Riverside County's first time home buyer program can provide qualified first time home buyer's with financial assistance during the purchase of their first new home. The financial help can be applied to both down payments and closing costs. This program is designed to render aid to lower income individuals or families during the purchase of their first home.
The program is sponsored by the Riverside County Economic Development Agency (EDA) and the program is called the “First Time Home Buyer” (FTHB) program. The amount of financial aid given is dependent on the price of the home and the financial status of the buyer. Generally a first time home buyer receives only what is needed and can include up to twenty per-cent of the purchase price of the home for the down payment. In addition to FTHB assistance with the down payment for first time home buyers, the FTHB program also offers assistance with closing costs. Like the down payment criteria listed in the previous paragraph, the first time home buyer receives only what is needed for closing costs with a maximum of six per-cent of the purchase price of the first home or $10,000, whichever amount is greater.
